Tadalafil is an oral medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (also called erectile dysfunction) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH or benign prostatic hyperplasia) in men. It belongs to a class of drugs called PDE-5 inhibitors.
Stops the action of the PDE5 enzyme and promotes blood flow to the penis. An erection occurs when the penis fills with blood. When a man experiences sexual arousal, nitric oxide is released in the penis.
Nitric oxide is involved in the production of cGMP, which controls vasodilation and constriction. cGMP is destroyed by the enzyme PDE5. Tadalafil prevents the destruction of cGMP PDE5 and ensures adequate blood flow to the penis.
This creates pressure on the penis, resulting in an erection. When the muscles in the bladder and prostate relax, it makes urination more difficult and relieves symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
This helps relieve pressure on the muscles that control the flow of urine from the bladder. People with erectile dysfunction are advised to take 1 tadalafil once every 24 hours. Do not take multiple tablets within 24 hours. Food does not slow down the action of this medication, so it can be taken with or without food. For best results, take the medication 30 minutes to 1 hour before sex.
This medication is sold under the brand name Cialis for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. It is available in doses of 10mg, 20mg, 40mg, 60mg, and 80mg etc. Common versions of this drug include
- Vidalista 20
- Tadalista 60
- Sildalist 120
- Tadacip 20 and others.
It is known that the effect of this drug lasts for 36 hours. Hence, it is called the weekend pill. Take as directed by your doctor and avoid overdoses. Read all instructions on the medication package and contact your doctor if the problem persists for a long time.
